Functional testing focuses on how the body functions at a molecular, cellular, tissue or organ level, rather than merely testing for the presence or absence of disease. Rather than using diagnosis as such, functional testing usually assesses for imbalances and sub-optimal functions that are contributing to the cause of health concerns. Since one health condition can have many causes and one cause can lead to many different conditions, functional testing can greatly assist in a targeted approach and individualised treatment protocols for greater health outcomes.
Functional tests are most often non-invasive and typically involve samples of either stool, urine, blood, hair, saliva or breath. Apart from blood draws, most others can be done at home

Test Types
Complete Microbiome Mapping – $661.17
Includes FREE interpretation and protocol

The test kit includes an instruction booklet on how to complete the test, as well as important pre-collection information.
The Complete Microbiome Mapping panel provides an in-depth analysis of the gut microbiota and gastrointestinal (GI) health. It includes the detection of parasites, worms, opportunistic bacteria, fungi/yeast, bacterial pathogens, viral pathogens, and beneficial bacteria. It also evaluates essential gastrointestinal tract markers that highlight the strengths or weaknesses of gut function. This comprehensive assessment provides us with a robust understanding of your gut health, helping to identify microbial imbalances and GI dysfunction that may contribute to both local and systemic health conditions.
This panel utilises advanced PCR technology ensuring precise detection of microbial DNA, alongside biochemical markers that provide insights into inflammation, digestion, intestinal permeability, and microbial metabolism. Markers such as zonulin and calprotectin assess gut barrier integrity and inflammation, respectively, while short chain fatty acids and beta-glucuronidase reflect microbial metabolic activity. The Complete Microbiome Mapping is ideal for investigating conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), autoimmune disorders, and metabolic disorders. Identifying root causes and dysbiosis guises targeted interventions such as probiotics, dietary changes, and antimicrobial therapies for improved gut and systemic health.

The CMM is an at-home stool test, which is sent to a lab in Australia. The turn around time is about 2-3 weeks and the price of the test includes a free consultation. I will be in contact as soon as your test results are back to organise a time to discuss your results.
SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) Testing – $224.25
Includes FREE interpretation and protocol

This simple, non–invasive, gastrointestinal test detects bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine, often referred to as BOSI or SIBO. Small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is a common gastrointestinal disorder that often underlies chronic gastrointestinal symptoms of maldigestion and malabsorption, including bloating, gas, diarrhoea, irregularity, and abdominal pain.
Bacterial concentrations in the small intestine are normally kept to a minimum. When excessive, the delicate mucosal lining is disrupted, including the microvilli that facilitate absorption. As a result, bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine (BOSI) can inhibit nutrient absorption and lead to the following serious health problems.
HOW I CAN ASSIST YOU ONCE YOU HAVE A TEST REPORT FOR SIBO?
Once bacterial overgrowth has been detected, intervention strategies involving diet, digestive support, probiotics and antimicrobials can be used to treat the condition.
Successful eradication of SIBO has been shown to reduce bloating, gas, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain in patients more effectively than many other treatments for IBS.
Bacterial overgrowth may manifest silently, without overt clinical signs. Patients without clear symptoms of gastrointestinal distress may benefit from testing, especially those with a history of chronic constipation, hypochlorhydria (including use of acid-blocking drugs), or maldigestion.
And more importantly educate you on SIBO PREVENTION.
Common Conditions:
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Unexplained abdominal symptoms
- Gas and bloating
- The inability to tolerate sweet or starchy foods, fibre, or friendly flora supplements
Analytes: Fructose
Organic Acids – $467.92
Includes FREE interpretation and protocol
The Organic Acids Metabolomic Profile is a nutritional test providing insights into organic acids and a view into the body’s cellular metabolic processes. Additionally, children’s reference ranges are designed to provide more accurate paediatric nutritional evaluations. Identifying metabolic blocks that can be treated nutritionally allows individual tailoring of interventions that maximise patient responses and lead to improved patient outcomes.
The Organic Acids Metabolomic Profile provides vital patient information from a single urine specimen. This organic acids nutritional test is valuable for determining:
- Functional vitamin and mineral status
- Amino acid insufficiencies like carnitine and NAC
- Oxidative damage and antioxidant need
- Phase I & Phase II detoxification capacity
- Functional B-complex vitamin need
- Neurotransmitter metabolites
- Mitochondrial energy production
- Methylation sufficiency
- Lipoic acid and CoQ10 status
- Markers for bacterial and yeast overgrowth
- Oxalate markers
- Nutritional markers
Analytes:
Fatty Acid Metabolism
Carbohydrate Metabolism
Energy Production Markers
B-Complex Vitamin Markers
Methylation Cofactor Markers
Neurotransmitter Metabolism Markers
Oxidative Damage and Antioxidant Markers
Detoxification Indicators
Bacterial Markers
Clostridial Markers
Yeast/Fungal Markers
Nutritional Markers
Oxalate Markers
Sampling instructions for spot urine collection
Who should order an Organic Acids Test?
The Organic Acids Metabolomic Profile is ideal for you if you suffer from:
- Weight issues
- Sleep abnormalities
- Digestive problems (we recommend also conducting a SIBO breath test or a Complete Microbiome Mapping)
- Stress, Depression or Anxiety (we also recommend conducting a hormonal assessment)
- Fatigue (we also recommend conducting a DUTCH Hormone Profile)
- Chronic health problems
- Worried about toxin exposure (we also recommend conducting a Hair Mineral Heavy Metal Test)
What are Organic Acids?
Organic acids are metabolic intermediates that are produced in pathways of central energy production, detoxification, neurotransmitter (brain chemicals) breakdown, or intestinal microbial activity. Marked accumulation of specific organic acids detected in urine often signals a metabolic inhibition or block. The metabolic block may be due to a nutrient deficiency, an inherited enzyme deficit, toxic build-up or drug effect. Several of the biomarkers are markers of intestinal bacterial or yeast overgrowth.
